Succeeding in a Job Interview

There are several important qualities that make a candidate successful in landing a job. Amongst these many qualities, there is the importance of a well-written CV, good soft skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. With that said, having a great CV and rehearsed responses is not enough to succeed in a job interview. In this article, we shall be discussing some important components which are likely to influence the selection.

Attention to detail

Since employers are focused on engaging the best talent available, attention to detail is one of the best ways to make a lasting impression. Ensuring familiarity with the job description and asking valid questions about the different items listed shows that you did your research prior to the interview. Apart from giving a good first impression, it would enable you as a candidate to better understand what the role entails and if you will fit right in.

Being likeable

This is a factor that many may overlook. Although having knowledge and experience are critical in landing a job, being likeable is also extremely important. Irrespective of how well you would do in the role, not being liked by interviewers can set you a step back. The matter of likeability is something that one may have very limited control over, irrespective of how much soft skills are practised. If a business is seeking someone to fit in well with the other employees, not being likeable could hurt your chances. This does not mean that you should portray a different picture from reality, as this will not last for the long-term. If you would like to improve your chances of being likeable, investing time to perfect soft skills is a good way to go about it.

Being determined in your career is a key factor for success. Drive is radiant and interviewers are likely to identify an engaged candidate that wants to get things done efficiently and productively. Having high levels of determination will portray confidence even if a candidate has been rejected following recent interviews. It gives candidates an extra mile and allows them to differentiate from the rest.

Combining these different tips can increase your chances of landing a dream job exponentially. In a competitive employee market, such tips are game changers. What do you think are important factors to succeed in a job interview? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
