One type of anxiety which we might not hear a lot about is that related to the climate. Climate anxiety is a growing phenomenon and is a response to the threats that harm the environment. This is becoming more common amongst younger people.
Over the past years, many have noticed that the brunt of climate change is being felt harder. The fact that we are today more knowledgeable about the repercussions of climate change contributes to this anxiety. When suffering from this type of anxiety, people may feel despair and helplessness when contemplating the future of the world. In view that there is a lack of awareness about climate anxiety, access to mental health professionals in this regard remains limited. This can be attributed to the fact that there is not enough emphasis in relation to climate change and its effects on the world.
