President Kanye

The United States presidential election is obviously a major event for several reasons. The United States is arguably the country which has the highest influence over the rest of the world and hence the president’s decisions impact most countries globally, in some way or another.

Over the past few months, the Trump presidency has been stretched and we may face the potential scenario where a new president is elected. The reason for this turn of events may be attributed to the way that the Trump administration handled the Coronavirus outbreak. As cases increase and the economy is further battered, it is a very realistic possibility that a new president is elected come November.

Over the past weeks, the main competitor seemed to be Joe Biden, who has the backing of Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, both who have spoken in favour of him and are at odds with Donald Trump.

Throwing his name into the hat a few weeks ago, is none other than the elusive Kanye West. He announced his plan to go head to head with Donald Trump on Twitter, following a few days after unveiling a new album titled “God’s Country”.

Upon his Twitter announcement, storms of fans immediately engaged and expressed their support for Kanye West’s new venture.

Although no one can dispute his popularity and following, is Kanye West president material? Whilst the exposure he gained through music and entertainment cannot be underestimated, being the United States president is definitely a very different ball game!

With that said, a lot is still yet to be done for Kanye West to seal his participation in the presidential race. The election will take place in November and Kanye West still needs to register with the Federal Election Commission, present a campaign platform and collect a number of signatures to mention a few! One deadline has already been missed. He was supposed to file as an independent candidate in several states if he wanted to run for president.

Kanye West also enjoys the endorsement of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who expressed his full support.

This is not the first time that Kanye West has toyed with the idea of running for president. His first announcement in this regard came way back in 2015 and in January 2019 he announced that he would run for president in 2024.

Over the past recent years, Kanye West expressed his support for Trump. With the recent developments surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement, it seems that Trump has lost Kanye West’s support.

Kanye West has donated two million dollars to the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, who were killed in incidents with police and citizens.
