Surviving a Hangover at Work

Alcohol can be a dangerous gamble. When consumed excessively it can make the most rational and mature individuals behave like fools, destroying their reputation and image. Indulging heavily in drinks just before a work day can be risky. When going out, this is always done with the best of intentions, with no particular wish to end up hungover the next day.
The primary intention is to have fun and enjoy a couple of beers. Nothing wrong with that, right? Before you know it, it is way past midnight and you are in panic mode as you have work the following morning. You immediately start to do the math and realise that you have less than four hours asleep when factoring how long you have to arrive home and actually sleep.
It can happen to the best of us. We are all human and we all make mistakes. In this article, we will discuss how you can live through the day, should you be in the unfortunate position of going to work with a hangover.
Start on the right foot
No pun intended. It may be quite difficult to start off on the right foot, especially if you are still semi-drunk. You wake up and you feel the world is shaking and you reek of alcohol. So what do you do? Immediately, brush your teeth, then drink water. Take a Panadol and jump into the shower. Preferably you take a cold one!
Make sure you dress up appropriately and don’t forget your sunglasses.

Keep yourself nourished
Make sure that you drink lots of water and eat well. In this case, something which contains fats and grease is better. The perfect opportunity for some fried eggs and bacon. If you want to take a shortcut, some pastizzi would work wonders as well. Also keep your stomach in check by drinking a good amount of coffee.
Act normal
Don’t let being hungover scare you. Act as you normally would and tackle your tasks as per your plan for the day. It would be good to allocate some more time than originally planned. You may need it.
Give yourself breaks

You may be accustomed to working without taking breaks. In the event of working with a hangover, you will need to let this slide. Take strategic breaks to recover your strength. You will be glad you did so as the afternoon progresses and your energy diminishes.
Oh and don’t forget to play this out strategically. Do not tell anyone and avoid the occurrence of it happening again. Any more tips to share on how to survive a hangover at work? Let us know in the comments section below.
