Vaccines are dangerous

This is simply not true! The theory that vaccinations cause autism has always been a myth. This myth started with a study conducted by Dr. Andrew Wakefield in 1998. The study consisted of twelve children, eight of which had parents who believed that their children’s behavioural problems were caused by the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. This study brought about panic, such that the vaccination had dropped in sales and measles cases skyrocketed. Eventually this study was retracted, and an official statement was released in the media highlighting that this was false information.

Even though doctors insist that vaccinations are safe to take, people are still avoiding them and there are cases of diseases that they haven’t seen in years.

Only kids get asthma

People who think that asthma develops in your childhood are simply mistaken. Developing asthma at adulthood is more common than you think. In fact, studies have shown that adults can develop asthma even if they never had it before. Asthma in adults is more dangerous than when it occurs in childhood, as it is life threatening.

If you never had a food allergy, you never will

As time progresses, food allergies are becoming more common. Research indicates that they are becoming worse and scientists are yet to come to the bottom of why this is so. Allergies may develop in any stage of life and people may become allergic to any food item. Such allergies may range from mild to severe and consuming such foods may lead to problematic outcomes, which can be life threatening.

Snoring is normal

We are led to believe that snoring is normal. Some research indicates that snoring is not a sign of a good night’s sleep. It could be a serious indicator that something is wrong with your airways. It may be a sign of sleep apnea, which is correlated with high blood pressure, type two diabetes and other chronic diseases.

Be careful as to which health advice you believe. Things you may have strongly believed to be true, simply because you have heard them for numerous times may end up being quite the contrary.
