The new Samsung Galaxy Fold heralds a new generation for smartphones. There is just so much to say about this new design and how it will impact the industry. The new phone was displayed on stage, with no opportunity for journalists to see and try. Although we are yet to understand the full functionality of the product, it has sent shockwaves across the industry. This masterstroke by Samsung can be admired by the fact that they gave us enough information to heighten our curiosity, whilst still holding a strong element of mystery.
The overall theme during the Galaxy Fold presentation, is that it is a luxury and dynamic device which is appealing for high tech enthusiasts, busy businessmen on the go and tablet users.
The expected launch date in the United States is the 26th April. The global colours include Martian Green, Astro Blue, Cosmos Black and Space Silver. The Galaxy Fold is composed mainly of two screens. A 4.6-incher on the outside of the device as it’s closed like a book, and the other, a 7.3-inch display that stretches across the “inside” when you open it up to become a tablet. Exciting huh!
Significant investment was made to the hinging to make sure it is adaptable to thousands of folds. The hinging element is discreet, giving the device a seamless and elegant look. You can also personalise the new Galaxy Fold by choosing the colour of the hinge.
The concept of introducing two different screens allows better versatility which makes it adaptable for any situation. You can use it for the basic functions such as calling and messaging, whilst watching a movie with tremendous visuals and perfect audio. A revolutionary concept which was never seen on a smartphone!
It also boasts a three-app multitasking feature. So, you can view a video about Miami, text your friend about it and book tickets online. All in one go! There is also the aspect of App continuity. As you transition from one screen to the other, the experience is not hindered or lost. If you see a video that you would like to watch on a bigger screen, you simply unfold. simples!
To ensure optimal performance, Samsung has invested significantly in its processor and RAM, making it one of the most powerful smartphones in the market. It contains a system of six cameras, three on the back, two on the inside and one on the front. That way you will always be able to take a photo, irrespective of how you are holding it.
Will you be buying the Galaxy Fold in April? It’s going to cost around eur2000.
Personally, I would wait and see Huawei’s, One plus and Apple’s next move about this topic. Don’t you love hi tech!
