Gin is Good for You

Even Gin is Good for your health!
Any form of alcohol is not normally considered as a healthy lifestyle choice. It is associated with additional calories, unwise decisions and health repercussions. That said, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few benefits here and there with some shots of gin. Actually, when compared with other alcoholic beverages, gin has a number of benefits. In this article we discuss some of these.
Juniper berrie
Ever heard of Juniper berries? Gin’s main ingredient is practically juniper berries. They are extremely healthy and contain a number of properties which are conducive to good health. They help in combatting coughs, lung congestion and mucus. These same berries were used for centuries, precisely for this purpose!
Arthritis.
If you are aching across your joints due to arthritis, gin could help soothe the pain. Some people who suffer from arthritis sometimes consume raisins marinated in gin to reduce joint inflammation.
Digest better with a Gin and tonic.
Gin contains an acid which is beneficial to the digestive system. Although slightly bitter in taste, its herbs, acid secretions and digestive enzymes are necessary to break down ingested food. Apart from the benefits to the digestive system, it is also good as a means to flush out bacteria from your body. This means that if you feel bloated or have a urinary tract infection, gin is likely able to help. Since juniper is a diuretic, it increases urine output and therefore stops water retention.
The liver. no joke.
Although this sounds contrary to what we hear, gin may also be beneficial for your liver. This is due to the reason mentioned earlier, being that juniper berries in gin are diuretic. It is important to keep in mind that if you have a history with liver problems due to alcohol intake, it would make more sense to avoid this beverage altogether.
Herbs and more.
When drinking gin, you are increasing your herbal intake, since it consists of nutritious elements such as juniper berries, coriander, cassia, nutmeg, sage, angelica root and rosemary, amongst many others.
Considering all this, gin may be the healthiest liquor available today.
Reduces aging.
Normally we hear that red wine is the alcohol type which reduces aging, however have you ever heard that gin offers a similar effect? The natural ingredients within gin are full of antioxidants that maintain the skin’s health, leaving it fresh, smooth and youthful. Gin helps with cellular and overall skin restoration. In order to gain this beneficial effect, the gin must be barrel-aged to get these antioxidants, since regular gin is relatively empty of these.
Blood circulation.
Gin may help your blood circulation which extends life span. The flavonoids of juniper berries are essential for cardiovascular well-being and to fight off clogged arteries. In addition to this it is also good to ward off weight gain, whilst being a relatively low-calorie drink.
How about that drink for good health?
Cheers!
